Blow to equality

The article “An official vote of no confidence” (Sept. 16) is well written. The condition of the middle class and poor — whose living and health care conditions have deteriorated over the years thanks to the for-profit health care centres — will worsen further if the government reimburses approved expenditure on treatment abroad for IAS and IPS officers. The move will also create divisions among civil servants.

D. Darwin Albert Raj,

Chennai

If policymakers (legislators) and policy implementers (executives) go for treatment abroad, what is the purpose of drawing up policies at home? All citizens are entitled to good, affordable health care. It is the government’s duty to ensure inclusive health care.
