BJP’s transformation

While most other media outlets have described the changes that have come about in the BJP hierarchy as representing a demotion for older leaders, the Editorial (Aug. 29) has clarified the real reasons behind it. There may be some hurdles between leaders due to the generation gap, but this method of power change will guide all parties in India where the heir syndrome must be curbed.

Evolution is the fundamental law of life. As time goes on, change becomes inevitable. The creation of the advisory body in the BJP marks the beginning of an era with the transfer of the senior-most leaders in it. The new regime has not completely shunned the older generation of leaders.
