Bengaluru blast

The >low-intensity IED blast in Bengaluru (Dec.29) has once again proved that the city is quite vulnerable to terror designs. Some towns in Karnataka like Bhatkal are known to shelter many terror elements. The cosmopolitan image of Bengaluru provides plenty of leeway for terrorists to enter the city and mix with locals. The city saw similar incidents in 2005, 2008 and 2010. Intelligence needs to be stepped up significantly.

Ganapathi Bhat,

Bengaluru

The blast proves that foolproof security is a near-impossible thing. What is surprising is that the perpetrators could plant a powerful explosive device in a crowded area. The enemy within is more dangerous than those elsewhere; an all-out war against terrorism is the need of the hour.

G. Ramachandran,

Thiruvananthapuram
