This refers to the editorial, ‘Lessons from Bangalore' (April 24), on the continued terrorist threats to major Indian cities despite heavy investment on policing and security apparatus. Strangely, when bombs exploded outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the cricket match went on as though nothing happened. Emergency services were not summoned and the spectators not informed immediately. Other explosive materials planted outside the stadium walls were detected only after a time gap.

It is hoped that a fool-proof security arrangement would be in place for the Commonwealth games to be held in New Delhi.
