Australia’s victory

The Australian cricket team’s total commitment to winning was evident when it benched former skipper George Bailey and brought in test captain Michael Clarke; I wonder if such practicality can even be imagined in Indian cricket (“ >Wizards of Oz rule again ,” March 30). Smith and Starc were always dependable. And by announcing his retirement, the skipper has truly set an example. True champions indeed.

Team India also needs to be given credit; the sort of near-flawless performance in every department not only revealed the efforts put in by all team members but also the firm belief that the team, as a unit, had in it what it takes to perform well. One must remember that it was not long ago that the team was being written off.
