The fracas involving Bollywood star and co-owner of Kolkata Knight Riders Shah Rukh Khan and officials of the Mumbai Cricket Association at the Wankhede Stadium could have been avoided had the MCA authorities shown some restraint. It was obvious to anyone who saw the brawl live on TV that the children accompanying Mr. Khan were roughed up by the security. Instead of blowing the controversy out of proportion, both parties should accept their mistake and settle the issue amicably.

The actor should have exercised restraint instead of adopting a combative stance. After all, he is a role model to the youth. He should be sober and dignified in his conduct.

Mr. Khan seems to be a victim of egoism. He has disappointed his admirers by being defiant and unapologetic for his rude behaviour.

When SRK was detained at a U.S. airport for a couple of hours some time ago, there was a huge uproar in the media and the government registered a protest. The same celebrity is involved in an awkward incident in his country and is banned from entering the Wankhede stadium for five years. This celebrity neither carried himself as a role model nor did he deserve publicity for being detained at an airport abroad.

Shah Rukh Khan is used to taking the law into his hands. He was seen smoking in 2009 and April this year during the IPL matches. Only officials at U.S. airports can teach the matinee idol the need to respect the law.
