The celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the first sitting of Parliament (May 14) were welcome. Our MPs have resolved to make Parliament an effective instrument of change. But shouting and disrupting are all that they do. How do they propose to strengthen democratic values?

We should be very optimistic to believe that our MPs will maintain decorum as they resolved to do on the 60th anniversary of the first sitting of Parliament.

The photograph captioned “Hallowed Corridors” (May 14) speaks volumes about the mature standards of The Hindu. The fact that Parliament is the pillar of Indian democracy is adequately portrayed in the picture.
