I would like to correct Subramanian Swamy (“Fundamental issue in Ayodhya case,” Op-Ed, Oct. 8) that the particular inscription mentioned by him [describing it, in the sixth paragraph, as a temple of Vishnu Hari who had killed the demon king Dasanan (Ravana)] was not found during the excavations undertaken by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) between March to August 2003 but was in fact claimed to have been recovered by kar sevaks when they demolished the Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992. Hence such a claim does not constitute valid archaeological evidence.
