Corrections and clarifications - June 24, 2016

June 24, 2016 01:15 am | Updated October 18, 2016 12:52 pm IST

>> A sentence in the Editorial, “ >The 10-crore rollback ” (June 23, 2016) said: “As a target, rough or otherwise, it is an ambitious goal for a country where the direct tax base has grown at a snail’s pace over six decades — from six per cent of GDP in 1950-51 to 16.6 per cent in 2013-14.” It should have been the total tax base that includes direct and indirect taxes.

>> The photo-caption that accompanied the report, “ >India prevails in final-over thriller ” (Sport, June 23, 2016) wrongly said Kedar Jadhav was unbeaten. Actually he was out. It was corrected in City Editions.

>> Editing error: A sentence in a report, “ >Will Apple take a bite of the cherry? ” (June 21, 2016) said, “Earlier they were given no exemption from the norm.” It should have read: “Earlier, there was no time limit for exemption from local sourcing norms for such companies producing items with cutting-edge and state-of-art technology.”
