It also mentioned Kuppuswami as a Tamil-speaking Maoist leader. Both Kuppuswami and Kuppu Devaraj, according to police sources, refer to the same person. Kuppuswami is the name mentioned in police records in Tamil Nadu, while Kuppu Devaraj is the name provided in Kerala.
