A museum in Wales is commemorating the sinking of the Titanic with written memories from a local man who heard distress calls from the vessel on his homemade radio.
Salvage replicas
Emma Wilson at the Winding House in New Tredegar in South Wales says the exhibition includes replicas of salvage from the Titanic and some articles written by Arthur Moore, who died in 1949.
On the night of April 15, 1912, Mr. Moore heard a faint signal in Morse code: “Require immediate assistance. Come at once. We have struck an iceberg. Sinking.”
Though he reported the signals to the local police station, but was met with disbelief. His niece Margaret Hopkins is expected to inaugurate the exhibition on Friday.
