India-Africa relations continued to remain tense as yet another confrontation was reported in South Delhi during the early hours of Monday. The Africans living in the locality have been accused of assaulting an Ola cab driver for refusing to carry six of them in one car. The driver has suffered severe injuries to his face.

Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday said her ministry is holding discussions with the Finance Ministry on Apple Inc's proposal seeking exemption from 30 per cent local sourcing norms on FDI in single brand retail.

The Minister, however, said she was not in favour of relaxing rules for Apple to sell refurbished second-hand phones in India.

Chief Minister-designate and senior Congress leader V.Narayanasamy on Monday met Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi and formally staked claim to form the government in the Union Territory.

Mr. Narayanasamy said he and Mr. Namassivayam would go to New Delhi to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi. After consultations with them, the formation of ministry will be decided, he said.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has played down the ban on registration of new large diesel-powered vehicles in Delhi, saying it is a “transient” phase and India is a market large enough not to adversely affect auto companies.

Stating that cars are universally targeted for causing pollution as they represent “the well-off section of society”, he had reasoned that cars contributed to only around 2 per cent of pollution in the capital. Also, “nothing has been done about polluting old cars."

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner has praised seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, calling him a world-class bowler.

“Obviously Bhuvi [Bhuvneshwar Kumar] is in and out of the Indian team, but he is a world-class bowler. With the new ball as an opening batsman I would like to come up against him on a wicket like this because he sets the tone from ball one,” said Warner at the post-match press conference, after leading Sunrisers to their maiden IPL title at the Chinnaswamy stadium.
