1. (S) In a brief meeting with the Ambassador on January 5, Home Minister P. Chidambaram said that, after conferring with his colleagues, India concurred in the U.S. sharing information with Pakistani authorities that had been gathered by U.S. law enforcement authorities during the Mumbai investigation. Chidambaram asked that the information shared be limited to the items specified in the Indian diplomatic note to the Government of Pakistan dated January 5. (Note: The diplomatic note will be sent in scanned form to SA/INS.)

2. (S) The Ambassador and Chidambaram agreed on the modalities of passing the information referred to in Ref B, which will be handed over on a restricted basis on January 6.
