The Supreme Court will pronounce its verdict on Thursday in the ‘2G spectrum case' seeking probe into the irregularities in the allocation of spectrum as pointed out by the Comptroller and Auditor-General and action against the former Communications Minister, A. Raja, and others for lapses and causing a presumptive loss of Rs.1.76-lakh crore to the exchequer.
On December 8, a Bench of Justices G.S. Singhvi and A.K. Ganguly reserved verdict on a petition filed by the Centre for Public Interest Litigation highlighting the lapses in the spectrum allocation.
The CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (both submitted status reports on the nature of investigation being conducted) and the Centre had already informed the court that they had no objection to the court monitoring the probe. The CBI had told the court that investigation would be completed and report submitted by March next year.
