Reacting to reports that many BJP MLAs from the flood-hit areas in north Karnataka are busy with dissident activities in resorts and hotels, ignoring the plight of those affected by the calamity, Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Monday apologised to the people and vowed to work for them.
“In the backdrop of the happenings, as Chief Minister, I apologise to the people of the State. We will take care to see that such incidents don’t take place in future and will work unitedly for the people’s welfare,” he told presspersons before leaving for Badami to participate in the foundation stone-laying ceremony to shift flood-affected villages.
Mr. Yeddyurappa appealed to people not to get upset over the recent political developments. Meanwhile, Health Minister B. Sriramulu on Monday reportedly took six more BJP MLAs to a resort in Hyderabad.

A day after he spoke of keeping the “unbridled” MLAs “under control” as a solution to the political turmoil in the State, Mr. Yeddyurappa seemed to have relented a bit.
On Monday, he spoke of coming to a truce with the Reddy brothers’ group and taking them along with him.
Speaking to presspersons after the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the relocation of Shirabadagi village in Badami taluk of Bagalkot district, Mr. Yeddyurappa said, “Because of the Reddy brothers we have realised our mistakes. We are going to rectify them ourselves in the interests of the State.”
The Chief Minister said talks were being held in New Delhi to find a solution and H.N. Ananth Kumar, MP, was mediating to end the political crisis.
Mr. Yeddyurappa said normality would return in the next two days and he would give a call to the Reddy brothers to forget the differences and join hands in rebuilding the lives of the flood-affected people.
