Panaji: The Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) said here on Saturday that the UK national, who was arrested in connection with a drug racket on Friday, had smuggled in synthetic drugs by packing them in a condom which was stuffed in his rectum to avoid detection at Heathrow international airport.

Superintendent of Police (Crime) Umesh Gaonkar, who is also in-charge of ANC, told reporters that David Johnson had also smuggled in other drugs by hiding them in containers which are used to store herbal products.

“On interrogation, he disclosed the details of how he managed to give the slip to the officials at Heathrow airport before arriving in Bombay in February,” said Mr. Gaonkar.

ANC suspect him of selling drugs along the north coast.

“Some other drugs were found hidden in herbal medicine bottles, which were disguised as sugar cubes,” he said, adding that most of Johnson’s clients were those who frequent music parties held regularly along the coastal belt.

Early this week, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had a meeting with top cops where they were instructed to crack down on late night parties where drugs are sold.

ANC on Friday arrested three persons and seized drugs and psychotropic substances worth over ₹23 lakh.

Three separate cases were registered under the NDPS Act. All the three are in police custody till Monday.
