Two persons surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate Court-III here on Friday in connection with the murder of former district secretary of Dravidar Kazhagam Thamizh Thendral alias Mohammad Ali, who was running a spare parts shop on Tiruchi Road near St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The two surrendered were Thangaraj of Asaripattarai and Thangaraj of Pillaiyar Palayam. Ali had a financial dispute with the duo for a long time. He demanded immediate settlement of dues. They did not oblige. When he insisted on repayment on Thursday evening, the two persons, in an inebriated state, attacked him with lethal weapons. He succumbed to injuries at the Government Hospital. After post-mortem, the body was handed over to the parents on Friday. He held the district functionary post five years ago.
