Hindu Munnani leader Rama Gopalan on Sunday said there should be no hindrance to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s pilgrimage to Tirupathi.
In a statement here, he said the Hindu Munnani had organised protests against Mr. Rajapaksa when Hindu temples were demolished in Sri Lanka. It also condemned depriving Tamils of their livelihood even after the war.
“But now, he is making a pilgrimage to Tirupathi. Sometime ago, the attack on Christian pilgrims from Sri Lanka to Velankanni evoked widespread condemnation from politicians. The same yardstick should be applied to Rajapaksa’s pilgrimage,” he added.

There is a saying in rural tamilnadu "Padikkarathu Ramayanam Edikkarathu Perumal Kovil". This saying sums up the show of Rajapaksa and we should not fall prey to such shows of tokenism.
Definitely there should be protests. While his pilgrimage should not be disturbed, he should be told by demonstrations even in Tirupathi, that his demolition of temples in Srilanka and making pilgrimage to other temples is nothing but hypocracy.
No one ever know of this visit, looks like Rama Gopalan wants to give idirect publicity to this and instigate others
