The Chennai Port Trust (ChPT) may have to go in for fresh bidding for its mega container terminal, if the Union Home Ministry accords security clearance for Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), a prospective bidder.

At a recent board meeting, Vadinar Terminal Ltd and Essar Port Terminals Ltd (VOTL) emerged as lone successful bidder. In fact, APSEZ was the successful bidder in the first attempt. Talking to The Hindu , a ChPT official said: “Pending the outcome of security clearance, Adani Ports will send back their price bid. As the offer price of VOTL has been made public, we mayt go in for a short Request for Proposal (RFP) asking both the bidders to send in their offer.”
