September 04, 2012 01:58 am | Updated 01:58 am IST - SALEM:

Judicial Magistrate-2 Laxmi on Monday granted bail to the former DMK minister, Veerapandi S. Arumugam, in a case related to the vandalising of Angammal Colony here on June 3.

However, he will not be released as he has been detained under the Goondas Act and is lodged at Vellore Central Prison.

Appearing for Mr. Arumugam, advocate Srinivasan argued that the application was pending for over 60 days and sought bail.
