With several complaints registered against a popular private farm involved in emu farming near Erode, authorities are monitoring commercial emu farms functioning in the district.

Police said hundreds of persons from other districts visited Perundurai near Erode yesterday and staged a demonstration before the Susi Emu Farm, whose owner besides seven others allegedly cheated a large number of people to the tune of crores of rupees by promising lucrative returns on investments in commercial rearing of the bird.

Based on complaints from investors, cases had been registered against them.

Meanwhile, five more such private commercial Emu farms located near the Susi Emu Farm Administrative office in Perundurai were found closed since yesterday afternoon.

But, so far no one has made any complaint against the five farms, officials said.

District Revenue Officer S Ganesh, who is investigating the investment and payment details of the Susi Emu Farm, said whereabouts of the farm’s Chairman and Managing Director M.S.Guru were not known.
