Central to GH skywalk... good initiative
Good thinking on the part of the CM. However, with the sort of
(in)human population that is hardly seen anywhere else on this planet,
with no discipline, no culture, one can be rest assured that these
'skywalks' will be used as mega toilets and will be another area of
filth, stench and disease.
No CM or PM can change the attitude of the masses in India. The
adminstration can probably use the new facility as a platform to
effective policing ensuring that it is kept clean, tidy and in order
at all times from day 1. Laws must be enacted and sign posted.
Kiosks can be given on lease, recovering the cost of maintenance,
recovering the capital cost and must be built in designated areas.
Safety and health must be preserved.
We should plan covered skywalks with escalators - the modernway so that everyone will use them effectively and J walkers can be prevented. Let us leran from other countries and design modern infrstructure - not the same old ones no one uses and the anti socials use for other activities.
Talk and more talk. Urban planning is done by imperial generosity. CM can also provide,
more rain, harvest, cooling sea breeze and enhanced monsoon, it's all up to her it seems.
In the last visit to madras, the pedestrian subways and 'skywalk' crossings at railway station
were eing used as toilets. There was human feces everywhere.
The government should stop coming up with megastructures projects every now
and then when the project lacks foresight and fails to resolve the problems at
hand. The flyover constructed on Usman Road failed to solve the congestion issues
and traffic woes in the area are still an everyday affair.
It's very sad and disappointing to realize that town planning and implementation is
just a word of mouth aspect and not put to an effective act. The 30km stretch in
OMR where communities sprung up in the last decade without proper
infrastructure planning and sustainability prospects is a better example to show
how town planning in TN is an abyss.
This is a good step forward ...Kudos to the government on this achievement....However, the buck does not stop here...The government has to ensure that the skywalks and subways are maintained effectively in the long run, so they are clean and safe at any point in time....Any small business or food vendors should be given clear direction upfront on managing the waste their business generates as most of the issues we experience with our public facilities start with lack of overall vision for the long term......
I think it is a brilliant idea(s). I think they should consider the future and make the skywalk a large one.
