CPI (M) leader responds to DMK chief's criticism

April 27, 2012 02:09 am | Updated 02:09 am IST - CHENNAI:

The CPI (M) State unit has asserted that demanding relief, rehabilitation and devolution of powers to Sri Lankan Tamils within the constitutional framework of that country alone will help Tamils there.

Tamil Eelam

Referring to Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M. Karunanidhi's criticism of CPI-M MP T.K. Rangarajan, who had said Sri Lankan Tamil parties and the people had not demanded ‘Tamil Eelam' (separate Eelam), CPI (M) State secretary G. Ramakrishnan said that Mr. Rangarajan was just reflecting the views of all sections of the population in the island nation.

Even the Tamil National Alliance leader R. Sampanthan had said that a “solution within the undivided Sri Lanka” was his party's stand and this was what he told the Parliamentary delegation from India, which visited his country in the second week of this month.
