Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Monday announced that he fully supported the decision of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa expelling Sasikala and her relatives, otherwise known as ‘Mannargudi mafia', from the AIADMK party.
In a statement, he said although it was an intra-party matter, it had public interest implication. The Chief Minister's decision would now enable her to give clean governance and to use her intellect for making the state prosperous and law abiding.
“Hence, if Ms. Jayalalithaa stays the course, she can count on my full support in the future,” he said.

Swamy may not have the capability to win a seat on his own, but he certainly has the capability to send the corrupt packing to jail, at least for some time - witness what happened to Kanimozhi & Co in the 2G scam!
@Suresh, A person's capacity shall not be judged by electoral accomplishments. It is because of Swamy's cases, JJ and Sasikala are facing the courts even today. It is his case in which JJ was convicted. In today's India 100+ billion people, Swamy is fighting a lone battle and in the verge winning a landmark judgement to secure voting machines against tampering. On top of it, he is playing pivotal role in 2G cases.
The wily lady that she is,Jaya has read the pulse of the people well. By this wise move of getting rid of the moochers and deadweight,She has consolidated her and her party's strength with the masses of TN. True that Swamy may perhaps not win a seat in TN on his own but one has to take into account his nuisance value. His support at this stage not only ensures smooth sailing, she can even look to his counselling on certain issues when things may get dicey. On the whole,Jaya's weeding process augurs well for the people, her party and herself personally too and needs to be commended.
Hon.Chief Minister Jayalalitha's bold decision to expel her close associate clearly signals to the cadres that she will do anything
to get the support of the people and to work for their upliftment.
Let her hands be strengthened by all near and dear to her and Let the
people of Tamil Nadu look forward to a good governance.
I have been amused and saddened whenever people defended Jayalalitha by shifting the blame to Sasikala ! The Chief Minister of 8 million people judged/evaluated/defended based on a NOBODY ? Our state has produced great intellectuals (including 3 Nobel Laurates) and now we have come down to this? I would anyday accept a corrupt and autocratic leader than a corrupt and autocratic leader whose woes are blamed on a bunch of individuals who have NO standing whatsoever !!!
it has been a dream and still remains a dream in tamilnadu to have an alternate party. A nonpartisan party sans caste, creed, greed etc and we have yet to see one. In such a case when choosing between the devil and the deep sea what alternate do we have that commands such a brute force than the family controlled one and it’s only rival. Pease keep me or rater folks like me living abroad posted and we’ll follow your track for the alternate. In the meantime the family operated business, sorry the family operated party has only one successful rival and that’s J. Nothing more nothing less, still waiting for the ‘good Shepard’ who can lead us and when we can say (I quote Psalm 23 from The Bible) He (or She) maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he (or she) leadeth me beside the still waters!
yes J can do wonders...still need to wipe out dirt completly in AIADMK as to identify and have a firm future leader after her as no body can replace her dynamic & clever leadership...its high time to reciprocate for the people who gifted a fabulous victory with all time roaring encouragement...ALL THE BEST TO MADAM J
good bless TN government and the people. Hopefully this is a good direction for the state.
Bold decision, Hats off.
"The Chief Minister's decision would now enable her to give clean governance and to use her intellect for making the state prosperous and law abiding. " - Isn't it hinting that until now she was disabled from using her intellect !!! Also it seems rubbish to assume that with this event CM will now be a different person / offer a great rule. On what basis does one assume that. After all they have had the friendship broken in the past and nothing changed much except that they got together again. My best wishes to CM for a great rule but I for one moment wouldn't believe that this one friendship was what was preventing her from being a good CM.
who wants Swamy Support ?????? does he have capability to win a Seat on
his own from anywhere in India ??????
Good Riddence at last. Ms Jayalalitha had earned all the bad name only because of this useless family who meddled with the admnistration from time toi time.
Glad that Ms Jayalalitha could see reason though a bit late.
The wisest decision. She has got the ghost off her shoulder and people
can look forward to efficient administration which she is known for.
Of course the opposition will have a field day and will try to embarrass her by making them to play against each other. She should
ignore all these and carry on with her people oriented work for the act
of which people will continue to keep her in power.
One of the irritating points that have always been raised against JJ's
governance is the issue of this lady overly hogging the lime.light and
decisions in the party. Thsi along with the rational decisions that the
JJ government had taken in incresing prices of a few services would put
TN government back on a more healthier financial footing. This latest
sacking should add more political substance to the AIADMK. Opposition
parties will have one less arrow in their armoury to attack JJ
government.
Amma Vazgha, the decision is excellent we have been waiting for long time.I can dream now ,the growth of tamilnadu in future.
The decision though belated is a very good and wise one .Hope the CM
stands by her decision as she always does. Like SWAMY'S view the matter
thoughn is an inter party affair, will bring good administration without
unwanted interference in administrational level. It is heartening to see
the party cadres rejoicing on the expulsion of the clan.
that is a very true statement from S Swamy, J has seen money, fame, popularity, has been in the limelight, lived in style ever since and she has the leadership qualities and if she puts her mind to 'clean and effective governance' "J CAN DO IT IN STYLE" and now is the opportune moment and we should and can expect that from J!
