Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko has made it clear that the party will never reverse its decision to boycott the April 13 Assembly elections.

“The MDMK, which will be an effective alternative to both DMK and the AIADMK as per the resolution passed at the MDMK's Tiruchi conference in 2001, will never go back on its decision to boycott Assembly polls 2011,” he told party cadre who came to meet him at his house at Kalingapatti on Monday.

Mr. Vaiko came to Palayamkottai on Sunday to be with his ailing mother Mariammal and returned to Kalingapatti, his native village, around midnight.

The MDMK general secretary told the waiting cadre there that he had made the party's stand clear in an interview given to a satellite channel. “The situation has pushed the MDMK out of the electoral battle this time… We'll be just spectators this time and will never go back on our decision to boycott the polls. However, the MDMK will soon become an effective alternative to the DMK and the AIADMK.”
