Shiv Sena on Wednesday protested against the power tariff hike by forcibly closing down seven bill payment centres in south Mumbai.
“We have protested against the power tariff hike which is causing lot of problems for common people,” Sena leader Pandurang Sakpal said.
Hundreds of Sena activists staged demonstrations, blocking road traffic at Girgaum in south Mumbai in the morning, protesting against the power tariff hike. 13 Sena cadres were detained during the agitation, police said.
Meanwhile, MNS chief Raj Thackeray met MERC chairman V P Raja to demand scrapping of concessions in power tariff given to cinema theatres, malls and construction sites of builders.
Mr. Thackeray has asked MERC to revoke the lowering of tariff for cinema theatres, malls and construction sites of builders and warned that MNS would launch an agitation if the demand was not met.
