The police on Tuesday removed nearly 300 activists of various political parties and organisations who blocked roads, and organised protests against Ram Rajya Rath Yatra in the city.

The protesters condemned the arrests of DMK working president M.K. Stalin, VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi leader M.H. Jawahirullah, Thirumurugan Gandhi, Kolathur Mani and others who opposed the Rath Yatra.

About 130 activists of the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam blocked road at Athupalam. About 30 activists of DMK staged a protest at Poomarket, 14 VCK activists blocked road at Gandhipuram, 61 SDPI activists, and 66 Manithaneya Jananayaga Katchi members blocked road at Ukkadam.

The police released all those detained late in the evening.
