Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has urged police officers to be humble in their approach to the general public even as showing extreme dedication and courage in maintaining law and order and enforcing effective criminal jurisprudence.

Addressing the first and second batches of the Kerala Armed Police after their passing out parade at Muttikulangara near here on Saturday, the Chief Minister said the government was committed to making its police force the best in the country.

Pro-people approach

“The relationship between the police and the general public must be very cordial. A pro-people approach must be adopted by officers,” he said. The Chief Minister added that the government would go ahead with its police reform initiatives and called for efforts to enhance the quality of policing at all levels. He said it was a welcome trend that people with higher qualifications were now joining the police force. “All the 420 new recruits who have completed training here to work as constables are highly qualified,” he added.

Mini civil station

Inaugurating a mini civil station complex at Agali in Attappady in the district later, Mr. Vijayan said that the government would not tolerate corruption in governance.

He urged officials to always remain with the public to uphold the values of transparency and probity.

Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekharan presided over the function.

The mini civil station can accommodate up to 12 offices.
