The National Commission for Women on Monday removed Alka Lamba from its probe team that investigated the Guwahati molestation case for revealing the victim’s identity.
Chairperson Mamta Sharma told The Hindu that Ms. Lamba was not an NCW member and had only accompanied the Commission’s probe team to meet the victim.
Ms. Lamba had taken the girl’s name while addressing the media here.

It would have been absolutely inappropriate, had Ms. Lamba been allowed to continue to be a part of the probe team. That would have certainly sent the wrong message considering the lack of sensitivity displayed by her in handling such a grave situation.
