The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Monday sprang a surprise by winning the Talegaon Municipal Council polls, held in the backdrop of perceived anti-NCP sentiment after the Maval farmers' agitation in which three persons were killed. The NCP won 15 of the 23 seats while the party ruling the Council — the BJP — won only eight seats.
