A minor Dalit girl was gang-raped at Daniava in Bihar’s Patna district on Tuesday.

The police have registered a case against Guddu Yadav, Arjun Yadav and Annu Kumar under Sections 383 (intentionally putting any person in fear of injury), 376 (punishment for rape) and 366 (kidnapping women to compel marriage) of the Indian Penal Code.

The girl, daughter of a labourer, was going to her grandmother’s place when Tempo driver Guddu Yadav offered to drop her. After the vehicle covered some distance, he and the two others raped her.

Some media reports said the police initially did not register a First Information Report and they did so only at the intervention of higher authorities.

Superintendent of Police Jayant Kant, however, denied the charge. “We registered a case after the incident was reported. An FIR was registered within one hour,” he told The Hindu .
