The September 30 tripartite talks on the Darjeeling issue, scheduled in Delhi, has been postponed but no new date has been announced.

“The Ministry of Home Affairs has postponed the meeting. It is up to them to announce a new date,” West Bengal Home Secretary Samar Ghosh said today.

Chief Secretary Ardhendu Sen had said at Siliguri yesterday that the meeting had ‘probably’ been postponed.

The last tripartite was held on September 7 in Darjeeling among officials of the Centre, the West Bengal government and the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha over the proposed interim authority in the hills.

It also discussed whether the proposed authority would have elected or nominated members and the legislative powers to be given to it.
