The publisher of a book that recently stirred up a controversy after the police raided his premises in search of copies of the work will approach the West Bengal Human Rights Commission and the Information Commission.
The book, Musalmander Koronio (What Muslims should do), was released 10 days ago and contains certain passages which are critical of the Trinamool Congress-led government’s policies for minorities.
There is neither any salacious content in it nor does it have anything that may hurt religious sentiments or trigger a riot, says Sabitendranath Roy, proprietor of Mitra and Ghosh Publishers Pvt. Ltd that published the book.
“We will approach the Human Rights Commission and also file a Right to Information application,” he said when asked if he was contemplating legal action against the alleged police harassment.
The author of the book is Nazrul Islam, additional director general (training) of the State police.
