On a day when the Mayawati government suffered yet another setback when the Allahabad High Court quashed the acquisition of about 600 hectares of land for building residential complexes in Noida extension, two top officials of Noida development authority were relieved of their posts on Tuesday. Mohinder Singh and Rama Raman were holding twin charge of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Noida and Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority.

The Principal Secretary, Social Welfare and Women Welfare, Balvinder Kumar, has been appointed Chairman and CEO of Noida. Mr. Mohinder Singh will continue as Chairman of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority, the Taj Expressway Authority, and the Uttar Pradesh Export Corporation. Mr. Singh has been given additional charge of Resident Commissioner of UP in New Delhi.

Mr. Rama Raman, who until now was also Noida CEO, will continue as CEO of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority. Sada Kant, who was awaiting posting, has been named the Principal Secretary, Social Welfare, Women Welfare and Ambedkar Village Development.

Reshuffle

The latest administrative reshuffle, which touched only bureaucrats posted in Noida, came after a Division Bench of Allahabad High Court set aside the acquisition of 589.13 hectares of land in Patwari and Dewla villages under Dadri Tehsil of Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) district. The land had been acquired by the State government in 2008 through two separate notifications issued in March and May of that year.

Welcoming the High Court verdict, president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, Rita Bahuguna Joshi has said that countdown for the departure of the Mayawati government has begun. The spokesman of the State unit of Samajwadi Party, Rajendra Chaudhary, has demanded the dismissal of the government. The Bharatiya Janata Party spokesman, Hardwar Dubey said the court order had exposed the corrupt activities of the present regime.
