A three-member special team of the Election Commission visited Netai village near Lalgarh in the Paschim Medinipur district on Thursday to assess the law and order situation.
Nine persons were killed and more than 15 suffered bullet injuries in Netai on January 7 in a firing incident.
Two other teams separately visited Tarakeswar, Goghat and Pursura in Hooghly and Basanti and Netra in South 24 Parganas district from where political clashes and violence have been reported last year.
The team that visited Netai held a meeting with the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police at Jhargram's sub-divisional office earlier in the day on the law and order situation in the region and the actions taken by the administration.
Representatives of the Trinamool Congress, the Congress and the Socialist Unity Centre of India met the members at the SDO office and submitted deputations alleging terror perpetrated by Communist Party of India (Marxist) cadres.
The CPI (M) did not send its representative and party's district leadership pointed out that it will not meet the team members unless invited for a meeting or discussion.
Bihar's Chief Electoral Officer Sudhir Kumar Rakesh was also part of the team that visited Natai.
The team asked villagers about the chain of events that occurred on January 7 and whether they could cast their votes freely. They also visited the house where from the villagers alleged that the CPI(M) ‘harmads' had fired at them.
