Pak violates ceasefire again

In the first ceasefire violation this year, Pakistan troops resorted to small arms firing on Indian forward posts along the border in Poonch district.

“There was small arms firing on forward posts along the Line of Control in Krishnagati sector of Poonch district around 2140 hours last night”, a senior Army officer told PTI.

The cross-border firing continued for a brief period, he said, adding there was no damage or casualties on both sides.

Army troops guarding the LoC did not retaliate, he said.

The firing was aimed at pushing in militants into Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), the officer said.

This is the first ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops this year.

Pakistani troops had last violated the ceasefire on December 29 when Pakistan Rangers resorted to indiscriminate firing on Indian Border Out Post (BOP) along the Indo-Pak border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.
