As maintenance and steps for the implementation of the third water scheme are to be taken at the Parsons Valley Dam, water will not be supplied to the town on June 12 and June 13.

The Nilgiris District Collector, P. Sankar, on Friday inspected dredging works being undertaken at Gorishola and Marlimund reservoirs. About 9.6 acres of Marlimund reservoir, and 2.23 acres of the Gorishola reservoir will be cleaned. The dredging works are being undertaken at a cost of ₹ 12.6 lakh.

The 429 tonnes of silt that will be removed from the dams will be distributed to farmers and indigenous communities who wish to use it for farming purposes. They have been asked to get the permission of the tahsildar to collect the sand.

Once the cleaning works are completed, the two reservoirs would be able to collect more than 4 million more litres of water.
