There was mixed response from passengers for the two new special trains introduced to Pollachi from Coimbatore in the recently dedicated BG line. The main demand is change of timings both, in the morning and evening.
The timings are not covenient as office-goers cannot travel as early as 5.15 a.m. from Coimbatore to reach Pollachi at 6.45 a.m.
The return train also does not benefit office goers as it reaches Coimbatore by 8.30 am.
Employees, workers, and students are of the view that if the timings of departure at Pollachi is delayed further in the morning and departure in the evening be advanced, it will benenfit them.
The Residents Awareness Association of Coimbatore (RAAC) welcomed the introduction of special trains to Coimbatore-Pollachi-Coimbatore.
Its secretary R. Raveendran said that the timings of the train from Pollachi in the morning could delayed to benefit office-goers and delayed in the evening from Coimbatore.
The Tamilnadu Vivasayigal Sangam urged the railways to operate an early morning train from Pollachi to Coimbatore to ensure that farmers bring their produce before 6 am in the morning. Su. Palanisamy, Secretary of the sangam said that if the railways ensures early departure of newl passenger train, it would help them.
Welcoming the introduction of two new special trains to Pollachi, the Citizens Voice Club Coimbatore Consumer Centre immediately hass announced a novel competition for the public.
It welcomes those travelling between Coimbatore and Pollachi to drop their tickets along with their name and contact number at the drop box kept at its office near Collectorate or they can either mail their PNR or Ticket Number and contact number to citizensvoiceclub@gmail.com or whatsapp to 9994674375 or 9442107546. The winners of those who dropped their tickets with contact numbers would be selected through a draw every week and would be given a bi-cycle. The prize was announced to save greenary and encourage zero emission and safeguard from the bus fare hike, says a release from C.M. Jayaraman, president of the Club.
