Two people were killed after about 50 armed Maoists stormed into a village in Bihar, police said Tuesday.

The incident took place late Monday in Tariani Chapra village in Sheohar district, about 200 km from here.

“About 50 armed Maoist guerrillas attacked the village and shot dead two people Monday night,” police officials said. Four people were seriously injured.

The district authorities have deployed security forces in the village and launched combat operations against the Maoist guerrillas.

Sheohar district is considered a Maoist stronghold.
