A 22-year-old man from Assam died after getting crushed inside the lift of a private building in the city on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Dipan Masan, an employee of a private company dealing in rubber products.
The police said that the tragedy occurred in the lift used for carrying goods at the company functioning on Somasundaram Mills Road, Kattoor, on Tuesday noon.
Masan was inside the lift which was going to the top floor of the multi-storeyed building. According to the police, Masan's head hit the roof of the top floor due to some technical problem in the lift.
The police said that Masan was sandwiched between the lift and the roof. His body was taken out by a team of police and fire brigades.
The body was shifted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
