Panaji: Till recently owned by liquor baron Vijay Mallya, the Kingfisher villa in North coastal Goa’s Candolim village, may also undergo a name change.

Talking to presspersons on the sidelines of his “formal entry” into the approximately three-acre property on Monday, its new owner, actor-businessman Sachiin Joshi, promoter of Viiking Media & Entertainment Pvt. Ltd, said, “A change of name is an eventuality,” but also hinted that no name has been finalised yet.

The villa, when owned by Mr. Mallya, has seen many extravagant parties being hosted by the lavish host.

Mr. Joshi bought the Kingfisher Villa for ₹73 crore in an auction conducted by the consortium of banks led by State Bank of India to recover part of the ₹9,000 crore which Mr. Mallya owes the banks.

“I amhappy to be here and I am feeling nice. It’s a good feeling. It’s a very positive feeling and I guess it’s a mixed bag at this moment,” said Mr. Joshi and promised to let mediapersons know of his future plans.

The Kingfisher Villa which has in the past been a venue for some high end VIP marriages and events, comprises magnificent bedrooms, artificial ponds and private swimming pools, open air dance floors, and lush green gardens.
