The 51-day annual festival in connection with the 47th anniversary of idol installation at Sree Gosalakrishna Temple at Thiruvanvandoor near Thiruvalla came to a close with a ceremonial procession followed by Gajamela on Wednesday.
A ceremonial procession with the accompaniments of caparisoned elephants, floats depicting Puranic themes, Mayuranrithom, Krishnanattom, Karakom, Nadaswarom, Panchavadyam, Pancharimelom, etc, was held from Thrichittattu Maha Vishnu Temple at Chengannur to the Gosalakrishna Temple in the afternoon.
Hundreds of people thronged the small hamlet of Thiruvanvandoor as well as on either side of the road to witness the annual procession.
Gajamela held
A Gajamela, parading 21 caparisoned elephants, was held a the Government High School grounds in Thiruvanvandoor marking the culmination of the 51-day annual festival, later, in the afternoon.
A traditional `Kudamaattom’ performance by the Paramekkavu team from Thrissur was a major attraction at the Gajamela.
Pancharimelam performance by a 30-member team of artistes led by Kalamandalam Purushothaman Pallickathode was held as an accompaniment of the Gajamela.
Vinu Mohan, cine actor, inaugurated the Gajamela.
A major-set Kathakali performance on `Nizhalkuthu’ was also held, later, in the evening. Renowned Kathakali artistes, Madavur Vasudevan nair, Fact Mohan, Kudamaloor Muralikrishnan, Thiruvalla Babu,
Thiruvalla Sadasivan, Kalamandalam Arun, Master Harikrishnan were the artistes who have performed the Kathakali.
