Four from State killed in accident in Saudi Arabia

Four persons from the State were reported to be among the 13 killed when the bus they were travelling in was gutted after colliding with a tanker in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, late on Sunday.

Four persons from the State were reported to be among the 13 killed when the bus they were travelling in was gutted after colliding with a tanker in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, late on Sunday.

According to reports reaching here, the four killed were identified as Abdul Aziz, 40, of Adivaram, Kozhikode; Melecheruvalathu Salim, 39, of Kunnamangalam, Kozhikode; Yakoob Veluthadathu, 32, of Melattur, Malappuram; and Jayadevan, 44, of Mayyanadu, near Kottiyam, Kollam.

The four were among 47 people travelling on the bus, which is said to have been taking them from an oil refinery where they were contract labourers to their quarters when the accident occurred. The six other Indians who were killed included natives of Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar. Two persons from Nepal and one from Pakistan were among those charred to death after both the vehicles caught fire in the impact of the collision.

Around 29 persons are said to have sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a hospital in Jubail. The bodies of the deceased were shifted to a hospital morgue near Jubail, the reports said.
