A meeting of the State leadership of the BJP demanded a CBI investigation into the murder of Bharatiya Yuva Morcha leader K. T. Jayakrishnan here on Tuesday.

The meeting recalled that the investigation by the local police had been undermined, and the High Court had sought action against the police officials who had tried the case. Now that fresh evidence had been received by the police team investigating the T. P. Chandrasekharan murder case, the brutal murder of Jayakrishan in front of his students in the class room should be reinvestigated.

Briefing the media on deliberations of the meeting, BJP State president V. Muraleedharan announced that the party would take out a march to the Kannur collectorate on June 21 demanding CBI investigation into the murder. The party also wanted proper investigation into the murder of Hindu Aikaya Vedi leader Aswini Kumar in Kannur by Islamic extremists. If the government did not concede the demands, marches would be taken out the Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram and other district collectorates on July 6,

The State president said that the Antony government and the Oommen Chandy government had not cared to take action sought by the High Court against police officials who had undermined the Jayakrishnan murder case. Most of the persons charge-sheeted in the case were not the actual culprits.

Mr. Muraleedharan said that the government continued to succumb to the pressure tactics of Muslim League. It was refusing to conduct an investigation by an external agency into the larger conspiracy behind the Marad massacre.

He discounted former organising secretary of the party P. P. Mukundan’s criticism that the BJP had adopted a soft approach towards the CPI (M) in the Neyyattinkara by-election. The main opponent of the BJP in the by-poll was the Congress and the CPI (M) had been pushed back to the third place in the contest. So, the BJP strategy was aimed at getting Congress votes.

Yuva Morcha leader V. V. Rajesh told the media that the Morcha would organise a march to the Assembly on June 19 demanding CBI probe into murder of Jayakrishnan Master.
