Socialist Kerala Congress, a splinter group of the former Kerala Congress (S) (which has since been merged with Kerala Congress –M) will merge with M.P Veerendrakumar-led Janta Dal (S).

According to Sunny Thomas, president, and Anil Kattakkada, general secretary, smaller parties were finding it difficult to make effective interventions in people’s problems. More over, that the party led by Mr. Veerendrakumar could successfully challenge the efforts from certain quarters against democracy in recent times was a factor which led to the thinking in the Secular Kerala Congress to join hands with that party, they said.

The merger meet will be held at Kottayam on April 9. M.P Veerendrakumar will preside over the function, they said.
