Declaring that a final decision on whether to bring down the Jagadish Shettar government would be taken at an executive committee meeting of the Karnataka Janata Paksha in Bangalore on January 4, the former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa said the State would see important political changes after Sankranti festival (January 14).

“People of the State too are aspiring for political change. You can see the beginnings of political polarisation soon,” Mr. Yeddyurappa told presspersons in Bangalore.

Expressing doubts on whether it would be possible for Mr. Shettar to present the State Budget, he said: “Mr. Shettar has been repeatedly saying that he will present the budget. But only God knows whether he will present it,” Mr. Yeddyurappa said.

Alleging that the State was facing a severe financial crisis thanks to the inabilities of Mr. Shettar, he demanded that a White Paper on the State’s finances be brought out by the government.

Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged that the government was not releasing funds for any major welfare measure. “Money is being released by the government only for publishing advertisements in the media on its achievements,” he said.
