President of the Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) and former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Wednesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party national general secretary Ananth Kumar is all set to unseat Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar.
Responding to Mr. Ananth Kumar’s reaction on the reported deadline set by him to dislodge the BJP government, Mr. Yeddyurappa told presspersons on the sidelines of a programme organised by the Kannada Sahitya Parishat that Mr. Ananth Kumar did not want Mr. Jagadish Shettar to continue in power for long.
When asked about his future course of action, Mr. Yeddyurappa said at the January 4 meeting of the KJP, they would chalk out their strategy after detailed deliberations. However, he refused to respond to queries on how long he thought the Shettar government would last.
Mr. Yeddyurappa, who was generous enough to earmark a huge budget to the Department of Kannada and Culture during his tenure as Chief Minister, was invited by the parishat to inaugurate a seminar. He came to the Ravindra Kalakshetra ahead of schedule and interacted with the former KSP chief Nallur Prasad.
Mr. Yeddyurappa was hailed by the organisers as the Kannadada Mukhyamanthri (Chief Minister of Kannada) for his gesture towards the KSP , and for holding the Vishwa Kannada Sammelan in Belgaum.
