Curtains came down on the weeklong fifth National Tribal Youth Exchange programme here on Friday with participants taking an oath to carry forward the message of unity in diversity and national integration back to their home States.
The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sanghatan (NYKS), the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Union Ministry of Youth Affairs, and Mysore district administration had organised several programmes during the seven-day event.
Tribal youth from 16 districts of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha and Bihar said they were immensely pleased with the event and had gained good experience after travelling around, interacting with people and participating in cultural shows.
Oath
A.H. Vishwanath, Mysore MP, who was instrumental in organising the programme in Mysore, administered the oath to participants who pledged to maintain oneness and foster peace and harmony in the country.
Mysore district in-charge Minister S.A. Ramdas called upon the tribal youth to unite and work towards development of the nation.
The youth must stay away from becoming victims of nefarious elements, he said. It was apt to take oath on the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, he added.
Lauding the tribal youth, who had worn traditional outfits, Mr. Ramdas said preserving the culture of the land assumed great significance in maintaining peace, brotherhood and camaraderie. He urged the youth to make India a powerful nation by contributing to its overall development.
M.N. Nataraj, district youth coordinator of the Nehru Yuva Kendra, welcomed the gathering. R. Natarajan, Zonal Director, NYKS, Karnataka, thanked the youth for their participation.
