Nearly 500 passengers on the Tirupati-Mysore-Chamarajanagar fast passenger remained stranded at the Kengeri Railway Station on the city’s outskirts all Saturday on account of the Karnataka bandh.

The train, which reached Kengeri from Bangalore City at around 8.30 a.m. was detained following protests en route Mysore. A senior South Western Railway official told The Hindu the train should have reached Mysore by 10 a.m. Another was being arranged to depart at around 11.15 p.m. With no onboard catering available and hotels closed, passengers had a harrowing time, said a Kengeri resident. Local residents came to their help as did the stalls at the station.

Trains cancelled

Meanwhile, the South Western Railway cancelled the (train no. 16227) Bangalore–Shimoga–Talaguppa Express scheduled to leave Bangalore City at 11.15 p.m. as its rakes (Mysore–Bangalore passenger) did not arrive from Mysore.
