Tumkur district secretary of Students Federation of India Shivanna E. has condemned the incident of suspected ragging of a student in a college near here and demanded that the police arrest those responsible for it.
Muhammed Rafi, a student of Sri Siddhartha Institute of Business Management at Maralur near here, suffered burns in an alleged case of ragging by a senior student.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Shivanna alleged that KPCC president G. Parameshwara has not taken action against those involved in the suspected ragging in his institution.
He said that the college has violated a Supreme Court order by not forming an anti-ragging committee. He said that ragging was a crime and hence, those involved should be arrested.
Muhammed Rafi’s relative Siddiq K. alleged that Akhilesh, a suspect in the incident, had threatened Mohammed Rafi of dire consequences if he told anyone of the incident and hence he had gone to Kerala without approaching the police here.
